read and write.

I've had this idea for a short story for quite some time now but just recently I decided to sit down and actually relocate it to a space more permanent and less likely to be trumped by thoughts of sweet spicy chili doritos or beautiful Ethiopian women. So for the past few days every night before my eyelids shut, I jot down a few paragraphs in my new story (old school style; pen and a pad, shout out to muze!). It's coming along fairly well and I expect to share an excerpt soon. But, the more I write the more it becomes obvious that I need to read more. I have a very short attention span so reading books are more like a chore for me. The truth is, in order for me to become a more creative and effective writer, I HAVE to read more often. My mama gave me Obama's Audacity of Hope for my birthday, but I never got any further than the first chapter. So I've decided to pick it up once again and this time actually finish it. I know alot of you guys out in blog land are avid readers, so I'm looking to you for suggestions.

Anything in the fiction genre you recommend??

the wackness.

These might be the wackest collective group of niggas I have ever seen. If this is the future of music, I'm not sure if I want to have kids. This video looks like a spoof. Are they serious?? I'll go out and admit that the lead singer does do the song justice, but overall these niggas are just WACK.

brand new.

Don't you just love new shit...

I'm working on a new short story.
I think I just fell in love with some new doritos...sweet spicy chili is the shit!
Just found out Dwele has a new date for a show in DC (Sept. 7). Less time to find a date.
The new Nas cd is incredible.
I've set some new goals for myself...and I've found some new methods for accomplishing them.

random shit: the harlem getaway...

Just returned from a week long trip. Spent a few days back home in SC and the last three days in Harlem....

1. "Damn Homie, in high school you were the Man homie, what the fuck happen to you...." That's how I feel when I go back home. I don't like seeing the people I grew up with struggling but it is what it is.

2. DC>>>SC... I definitely enjoyed spending time with my family and friends but I really can not imagine moving back to South Carolina. I just can't do it.

3. If I was 4 years younger I would move to NYC for a year. I just want a year to explore the city and really experience living in the greatest city in the world.

4. How do old people survive in that city?? It's so not "old-people friendly"

5. Took my mother to NYC with me. We saw the off-broadway play Thurgood starring Laurence Fishburne. Hopefully, every one is aware of who Thurgood Marshall was, and just how important he is to American History. If you are in NYC you HAVE to go to see that play.

6. I really want these sunglasses...CLICK...

7. I LOVE that BET is now showing re-runs of A Different World. I wanted to be like Dwayne Wayne SOOOO bad!

8. Ok, so Dwele is performing Oct. 8. Last year I went to see him perform alone but this year I refuse to go solo. I gotta find a date! "Searching For Sidney Shaw" begins now...
