Just returned from a week long trip. Spent a few days back home in SC and the last three days in Harlem....
1. "Damn Homie, in high school you were the Man homie, what the fuck happen to you...." That's how I feel when I go back home. I don't like seeing the people I grew up with struggling but it is what it is.
2. DC>>>SC... I definitely enjoyed spending time with my family and friends but I really can not imagine moving back to South Carolina. I just can't do it.
3. If I was 4 years younger I would move to NYC for a year. I just want a year to explore the city and really experience living in the greatest city in the world.
4. How do old people survive in that city?? It's so not "old-people friendly"
5. Took my mother to NYC with me. We saw the off-broadway play Thurgood starring Laurence Fishburne. Hopefully, every one is aware of who Thurgood Marshall was, and just how important he is to American History. If you are in NYC you HAVE to go to see that play.
6. I really want these sunglasses...CLICK...
7. I LOVE that BET is now showing re-runs of A Different World. I wanted to be like Dwayne Wayne SOOOO bad!
8. Ok, so Dwele is performing Oct. 8. Last year I went to see him perform alone but this year I refuse to go solo. I gotta find a date! "Searching For Sidney Shaw" begins now...
Can I be your Sidney Shaw? lol
ReplyDeleteBET is showing reruns of ADW??? Dang... thats my ish. Gotta put that on the Amazon wish list...LOL.
ReplyDeleteThat play sounds tight... I wanna see it!!!
NYC is awesome. I think everybody should live here at least once in their lives.
ReplyDeletesidenote: I was totally thinking about a Masters in Secondary Ed, either that or Political Science (at this point leaning more towards Poli-Sci). Then head off to Law School
Ha...You said Sidney Shaw! Yo, I just realized, Sid Shaw is my dream girl. I'm running with that.
ReplyDeleteI like that pic. you look so serious lol:-)
ReplyDeleteI want to live in NY too! Just for a lil while tho. I couldnt agree with you more with NY not being old people friendly. its not friendly period lol
Is Dwele coming to D.C. area? If so I might have to make that trip. Good luck with finding your Sid! lol
Hi. I hardly comment. I think this may be like my 3rd time. I read via my google reader, it's just easier.
ReplyDeleteAnywho, I love my city and I'm glad you love it too! You should totally move here for a year. No need to be 4 yrs younger. Oh and we love the elderly. LoL
I saw the play too. My son was supposed to come with me but he backed out. Teens, what can I tell ya. Anyway, I am glad I went. I learned a lot and knew some stuff too! LOL
I don't "love" Dwele but I do have all his albums and he's slowly growing on me. Hope you find her.
Tell me why... I want to steal that shirt from you?? lol...
ReplyDeleteI wish I WANTED to go back home. Honestly, St.Louis isn't where it's at. I'm content with going to Atlanta where my mother and sister is, but St.Louis... wackness
New York IS the greatest city in the world. Man I can't wait till I graduate to make that move!
I was suppose to go see the Thurgood play but I had to work :(
You took it way old school with the glasses... they're hot
You know what I love... that Nick at Night brought back The Cosby Show LOL
I wanna see Dwele!! And you know good dag on well you don't have a problem finding a date to see it lol But yo seriously... his CD BANANAS!!
my granny and her husband stay in harlem, and they love it. but i agree, i would think that the city would eat them up and spit them out. but when you grew up in it you probably get used to it.
ReplyDeletei think it is funny going back and seeing people from HS. oddly enough it does not bother me if they are struggling.
