stay...

Everyday I put "words of wisdom" on the board in my classroom. So instead of talking about History for the entire class, we at least spend 5 minutes talking about life. Yesterday's quote was..."stay connected." A major part of maintaining relationships is showing the other person that you actually care. One dimensional friendships never last. The effort has to be reciprocal. Reach out and connect with a loved one...

  1. The lessons your kids learn in your classroom are going to take them very far. I had something similar in Kindergarten classroom. I started young!

  5. Did you have someone make that shirt for you...i really like it!

It's nice to see a teacher talking about life because that is what they have to face when it is all said and done. and yes it takes two to make any relationship work!

  10. Maybe you should post your words of wisdom on here every month. I'm sure we could all benefit. Maybe that could be a jumping off point for dialogue. Hope your school year started and is going great!

  13. I stole your words of wisdom bit and it was a hit. I flip it and tell them about stupid things I did when I was young and how they can avoid going down that same path. Nothing too serious, but things like tagging and shoplifting stories. The main reason I get through to the kids is because I'm real with them and I don't sugar coat things. These kids are very comfortable talking straight about real issues.

I'm a second year teacher as well, so we're experiencing the same plight. This year is 10x easier! I have them all in check like they're at a prep school, but Everything is simple now that I have classroom management locked down.

Yeah, the black cart will never catch on in the streets. I honestly feel for you that you had to rock the black cart your first year. My version of the black cart became the white box. It served a few purposes; the first being that it made it appear that I was always swamped, a technique I stole from George Costanza. Second, it prevented me from having to rock the black cart, and as an English teacher who assigns mad essays I'm always lugging around a forest on my shoulder. I have a Kenneth Cole leather bag to offset any wackness the box subtracts from my cool points.

    Stay up bruh.
