leave it all behind...

since the day it came out the foreign exchange cd has not left rotation. it inspired the following piece..

you lie nude. i watch as the light that peeked through the blinds gently caressed your skin, accentuating the delicate curves I explored just a few hours before the sun slithered through the crevices and into our morning after. one glance at our naked bodies and i'm reminded of the careless whispers that led us to this point, now easily exposed like secrets written in the playground sand. the sheets, white, pure, once symbolic of our friendship but now we lay the contrary. our skin the color of crushed mocha beans grounded by a mallet of regret. in my state of ambivalence i watch as the white turns to gray. it's so hard to read between the lines. but in a desperate attempt to interpret how we got here, my eyes travel slowly from the small of your back, up to the base of your neck and there i seek resolution between the margins of your mind. none found. i assume you are as confused as i. this is wrong. you shouldn't be here. i -- we shouldn't here, but we are.

this is a game we play to lose...
more coming soon.

  1. Nice piece.

The album has been on steady rotation since its release for me as well. It's inspired a lot in me, lyrics float into my mind at the most appropriate times, acting like the cherry on top of some real good moments. The album is making me less and less afraid of falling in love again.
