the answers...

"But through all the lessons that you taught me I have learned my experiences enhanced my character" - Musiq Soulchild

why "1980", i mean, i guess ur 27, but what made you choose that name?
A big part of who I am today comes from my childhood during the 80s. So since every is obsessed with being an 80s baby, I figured I would switch it up a lil bit and just represent the year I was born. It was a great year!! Not that I remember it!! lol

1 song u will never get tired of...
There are tons on songs I can never really get tired of but right now two come to mind John Mayer "Come Back To Bed" and Musiq Soulchild "Time". I absolutely LOVE those two songs!

1 celebrity you want to have your children...
This one is too hard to pick just one! Right now there are a few I wouldn't mind impregnating lol. First would have to be Sanaa Lathan ( I fell in love after Brown Sugar), Cassie (yeah I know she's young, but she is legal!! lol) and I'm not sure if the last two can be considered celebrities but they can both still get it...Nikki Jean (most recently seen in Lupe's Hip Hop Saved My Life video) and this chick VASHTIE (she's a budding video director, a former fashion consultant for def jam, and currently a candidate for my baby mama!)

why are u searching for your swag...does that mean you lost it, or you never had it?
Oh trust, I have ALWAYS had swagger!! lol..But I am just searching for a different type of swagger. I'm searching for that confidence to really follow my dreams and accomplish the things that will make me thoroughly enjoy every minute of life. People that have total swagger, aren't afraid to take the risks required to live out your dreams. I'm still searching...

fav color?
Grey. My closet is loaded with grey everything. Shirts, shoes, sweaters, socks lol... I love grey!

pepsi or coke?
neither. I drink water

children?
None. I want a lil boy and I want to name him Maverick, but whenever I tell people they think it's a stupid name. It's different but I like it. You think Sanaa would like that name??

married?
One day

What's up with Duke when it comes to NCAA tourneys?
Idk what the hell is going on with Duke. But I'm pissed! We haven't done shit in the tournament in the last couple of years!

Name one thing someone has ever told you that has made an impact on your life.
Always have a plan!! Fail to plan, plan to fail. It's so true!!

What made you choose the name of your blog?
see answer to the fourth question

one thing in life that you've done that you never thought you would do?
Drop out of college. I dropped out after my first semester. It was definitely a dumb move, but I came back to my senses and finished up school.

What is your dream career?
My dream career is to be a writer. I love writing and one day I'm gonna find a way to make a living by doing what I love.

Five things you want to do in your lifetime.

  • Go to a Duke Basketball game at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
  • Travel to Africa and Japan
  • See The Roots in concert
  • Help my mother retire
  • Have a child

How did you get into blogging?
I just decided to start blogging as a way to make myself write on a consistent basis. When I first started this blog it was about hip hop and fashion, then eventually I started getting bored with hip hop so I just started doing random posts about life, music, politics and whatever else came to mind. I didnt really care if anyone was reading I just wanted to make it a habit to write everyday.

favorite song of all time?
That's too hard. I don't have just one but I can tell you that Mary J. Blige "My Life" is my favorite album of all time.

how tall are you?
Let's ask the question you really wanted to ask. Am I 6'0" or higher?? No. I feel like women only really care about you if you are tall. I don't understand it. Sorry Eb I don't fit into your perfect man box! lol

have you ever gone streaking? if not, how much money would it take for you to do it? streaking??
Hell no! but if you pay off my student loans right now, i'll run across america butt ass naked!!

if you were a superhero, what would be your name and special ability?
I really wish I could read people's mind. That would definitely be my special ability. My name?? "Cravin Morehead" lol...That has absolutely nothing to do with my ability, just an excuse to use that name because I think its funny. lol

most influential person in your life?
My mother, hands down. She has been such a force in my life. I have a VERY tight bond with my mother. She is a single parent and I am her only child so we have been through alot together. I'm proud to admit to being a Mama's boy. I LOVE MY MAMA!!! lol

What were childhood dreams and how did you fulfill them??
I wanted to be like mike!! Clearly that dream was not fulfilled.

is there one artistic thing that you are horrible at that you would like to master? (e.g. dancing, singing, painting, etc)
I dont have one artistic bone in my body, but I really wished I could draw because I have some good ideas that I want to get out. I completely suck at drawing!

What made you want to become a teacher?
It was kind of the spur of the moment decision. I finished my bachelor's in Political Science and the job opportunities just werent available. Soooo, I went back to school and got my Masters in Education and got a job teaching. Teaching had always been in the back of my mind so I figured I would give it a try.

What's your favorite movie of all time?
Four way tie between ET, Carlito's Way, Friday and Coming To America.

What's your favorite food?
Stereotypical black man....I love ribs!

  11. I am late (new subscriber).

I know a man named Maverick. He is a bad, bad man with offspring all over the Midwest, South and Mid-Atlantic. He has taken life and given life (he is my sibling's father). I know he is responsible for his choices and still I've always wondered if there was a power in his name that somehow fueled his recklessness.

Personal experience aside, Maverick is an audacious name. A Maverick can never be ordinary.
